Do All Olympus Dslr Models Use the Same Lenses?

I'm looking for the perfect dslr for me and canon and nikon are not what I'm looking for so please don't suggest them. I'm looking into Olympus and Sony models. I am a student and my budget is around $500-800.

All 4/3 mount lenses fit on all 4/3 mount cameras. If you start with an Oly 420, the lenses you use with that camera will mount directly to a 620 later on.

The simple answer is NO.

Currently, Olympus has 2 mounting systems: 4/3 and micro 4/3.

Unless you use an adapter, you cannot fit a 4/3 mount lens directly onto a micro 4/3 mount body and vice-versa.

Which is the better dslr camera overall? Nikon D5000 or Olympus E-620?

I want a dslr (under $1000) with an articulating LCD screen. There aren't many models to choose from. Are there any other models I should consider?

Which camera is better is very much a matter of taste and personal preference. The main reasons that I use Olympus cameras are ~

1) They make very high quality optics.

If an articulated LCD is what is the most important part of a camera, then you have really made your decision.

On the other hand, if having hundreds of lenses both legacy and current is important to you, then Nikon will be your choice.

Nikon D5000 is better choice. It come with great features that close to D90.One-button Live View.Continuous shooting as fast as 4 frames-per-second.Low noise ISO sensitivity from 200 to 3200.

Jimmy
Either of those would work well for you, producing great quality images. One consideration may be the lack of an autofocus motor in the Nikon D5000. This is a feature that many people expect to have in a camera.
